7TV Emote Pruner ("the service") is a free tool run by Junglewalrus, an individual, not a company. It reads public Twitch VOD chat replays and counts 7TV emote usage. This page explains what the service stores, why, and how to get it removed. The short version: it keeps the minimum needed to sign you in, enforce daily scan limits, and build the reports, and it does not sell, share, or advertise with any of it.
What we collect
If you sign in with Twitch
Sign-in uses Twitch OAuth with no permission scopes, so the service can only see your public profile. It stores your Twitch user ID, login name, display name, avatar URL, when you first and last signed in, and per-day counters of how many scans and chat pages you have used. The counters exist to enforce the daily scan caps. The Twitch access token is used once to look up your profile and is not kept.
Channel and VOD data
When a channel is scanned, the service fetches that channel's public VOD chat replays from Twitch and its emote set from 7TV. For each VOD it stores per-emote message counts, when each emote was last seen, and, to count distinct users, a capped list of the Twitch user IDs of chatters who used each emote. Chat message text is processed in memory and not stored. The public report shows counts only. Chatter user IDs are never displayed or served through the API; they are only used to derive the "distinct chatters" number.
Any channel that has public VODs can be scanned by any signed-in user, so a channel's report may exist without the channel owner having used the service. Reports are visible to anyone who knows the channel URL.
Cookies
The service sets one session cookie after you sign in. It is signed, marked HttpOnly and Secure, and expires after 30 days. A short-lived state cookie protects the sign-in handshake and is deleted when it completes. There are no advertising, analytics, or third-party cookies.
Browser storage
Your browser's localStorage keeps a list of channels you recently opened and which emotes you have marked as pruned. This stays on your device and is never sent to the server. Clearing site data removes it.
Server logs
Cloudflare, which hosts the service, may log request metadata such as IP address, user agent, and requested URL for security and rate limiting. The service itself does not build profiles from this data.
Third parties
- Twitch handles sign-in and serves the VOD chat replays. See Twitch's privacy notice for how it treats your account.
- 7TV serves emote set contents and emote images. Emote previews load directly from 7TV's CDN.
- Cloudflare hosts the site, database, and background workers.
No data is sold or shared with anyone else. There is no advertising.
Retention
- Per-VOD results are dropped from the report once Twitch no longer lists that VOD, and a channel owner can remove any single VOD's results at any time.
- Results carried over from the earlier report format expire automatically after 60 days.
- Your account row persists so that daily limits work across sessions. Ask and it will be deleted.
Your choices and rights
- Sign out at any time; this clears the session cookie.
- Channel owners can reset their channel's report or remove individual VOD results from the report page while signed in.
- Deletion. To have your account row, or a channel's stored results, deleted, contact us (below). Requests are honoured within 30 days.
- If you are in the EU, UK, California, or elsewhere with data protection rights, you can ask what is held about you, request correction or deletion, or object to processing. The lawful basis for processing is our legitimate interest in running the tool and, for sign-in data, performing the service you asked for.
Children
The service is not intended for anyone under 13, and no personal data is knowingly collected from children.
